Making of a couch

So finally after about 3 months of sitting on the floor and dining-room chairs, we are about 1/2 to having a couch setup. Over the thanksgiving break I was able to pick up just the love seat from LA. The couch does not come in until Dec 6, but the love seat was in stock now so we figured best not to take chances and just get what we could.

[Enter SB with Love Seat in truck]

Sun - Got home around 10:30 from SD and it was freaking cold out so I left the couch in the truck.

Mon - Go to work, got home at 6, left for double header softball game till 10pm ( we won both games now 7-2, looks like we have the league won :) Also my batting ave went up and I made some of the top 10 lists for rbi's, batting, and slugging. ) After that workout I convinced big al to help carry in the boxes. Yes I have to assemble the couch! It was Wholesale! Got everything put together but screwing in the feet, and had to sleep.

Tues - Get home from work, eat, go to put the couch together, and WHAT! Only 8 of the 16 screws are there! ARG!!! Since we are downtown I try to drive to ACE hardware but they were closed by 8pm :( Have to wait till tomorrow and hit up home depot for some wood screws...

Post election humor (but maybe not so funny)

Some funny email I got today, post of Bush's win for another 4 years. Lets hope it does not end up like this:

More craziness, maybe ironically related to crazy Midwesterners (not really):

Halloween 2004

Halloween was a long celebrated holiday this year. It started at work with decorating our work areas. Our group pick a theme of "Pirates of the Caribbean", I thought we did a kick ass job, but I guess the judges thought otherwise. We had a big pirate ship with 3 masts and yo-ho music, and skeletons. I think we were robbed.

Friday night we went to a house party in Goleta, it was a a nice production. It was a "Matt" party as half of Santa Barbara knew it as. They decorated the whole house in black plastic, and had the music visualizations projected on to the dance floor. It was quite impressive, and I think about 97% of people were dressed in costume.

Saturday we attempted to get some pumpkins to carve in true Halloween tradition, but after going to 3 different markets only to find that they were all sold out :) But when we were at our last stop we decided to get some small gourds to carve. I think they came out very cool! Maybe even better then the traditional pumpkin.

Sunday actually Halloween day we were pretty tired for the past two nights celebration that we got some Chinese take-out and passed out candy to the neighborhood kids. We underestimated on our two bags of candy, and almost ran out, so I made a quick run to Vons. They were all sold out! So I grabbed some lunch stuff like mini bags of chips, and cookies. In the end I think we had about 5 goodies left. Phew! No disappointed kids.
