Jon Stewart's One-Ups O'Reilly In Viewer Knowledge

Pretty funny that last night sheldo suggested I watch Bill Maher "The O'Reilly Factor" on HBO, as we have our 2 free months since we just got cable. And I did watch it last night, I think it was repeat, Drew Barrymore was on talking about an MTV documentary she did on young voters. Its was pretty harsh how Bill was trying to knock Drew's Ideas, she learned from making her film, but she was excellent with her responses. They had good facts and knowledge about young voting statistics. So really most of my political news comes from watching "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. It is quite surprising that his viewership is so large. Anyways in this article they mention that Bill O'Reilly said that all of Jon's viewers were stoners, but research has shown that its most likely the other way around. Which is cool because so far I like the Daily Show better, and since Sheldo is a big fan on the Bill Maher Factor, I can say HA! You are watching the wrong show!!

Update: Not really as the Bill Maher show has nothing to do with this article ;)

Locked In

The morning started off rather normally. I got up showered, found all my gadgets ( cell phone, ipod, keys, wallet, and chap stick medicated ) to fill my pockets, and attempted to leave but we were locked in. Yep there was no way to get the front door open.

This kind of started last night went I went to take the trash out. See we have a kind of lock on our door like on a hotel room, where it is always locked ( metal tab sticks out ) but you can turn a knob and then its always unlocked. So I went to turn the knob so that it was to the unlocked position but the knob just kept spinning and not doing anything. I thought maybe it had become unscrewed or something so I turned it in the other direction, and then I realized that is wasn't attached to anything and came off in my hands. Doh I figured no big deal we will call the fix it guy tomorrow. What I did not realize that with out the knob on the inside, and the door in the locked position, we can't get out! I ended up getting my needle nose pliers and messing around with the lock and got the bolt to move enough to open the door. Just in time to as Colleen was about to climb out our window to open the front door with the key. The key sill worked alright from the outside for the most part, but we put a call into the landlord to get this fixed.

Labor Day Mayhem

Well things have been pretty hectic. The weekend started out on a great note, I went to play poker at my friend Chris's house. They had a $20 buy-in, which was the most I think I have ever played for, so I was a little nervous about that and that one of their friends seemed to have a decent history of playing poker in the casinos and knows lots of the rules. But in the end all I had all the chips, and their money! Best first poker win ever! Then Saturday morning Dan helped me with a big load that was our bed, dresser, and half of our boxes. He had to take off around eleven for LA, but then our back-up helpers stopped by, Becky and Nate, from work, and they were crazy movers. They were the kick in the butt we needed to get things done. At one point Nate just took an empty box, and pushed what ever papers we had on the desk in, Bam! Desk is packed. So we made two trips down to the new place with boxes will about 3pm, then I was starving as I had only eaten a small breakfast. When you are that hungry only greasy food will do the job so I got a Carl's Jr. $6 Bacon-Western Burger, with criss-cut fries..drool...

Anyway after eating we rested for a while, and then Missy came up for Sunday's Slosh ball. Sunday morning we walked to Cajun Kitchen from our new place for breakfast, so cool that we can just walk there, it was only like 3 or 4 blocks. Then we got a late start to slosh ball but late is on time in their world. It was insane, about 120+ people, we broke into 4 teams, and the each team played 2 innings, 5 outs 7 run limit. There is a slip-n-slid from first to second ending in a waiting pool, at second is where you have to finish a beer, and then another slip-n-slide to third. Lots of fun since it was about 98 degrees out! We won the first game, and then the next two teams played. By the time for the championship we played about 1 inning and people were to lost to figure out what was going on, so we ending that and went on to dizzy sticks. This is a relay were you spin around a bat 10 times, do the slip-n-slide to the keg, drink a beer, back via slip-n-slide, and tag the next person. This is the best sport around to watch! When I went I could not even stand after the bat part, I fell down and pretty much crawled over the slip-n-slid. Then when they handed me the beer, I fell over, saving the beer, and then drank it and made it back. After all 6 kegs were out we went back to Dan's to sober up, we ended up watching TV for the rest of the night, as I think we just got to much sun!

Monday - Ran some errand to get things for the new place, like trash cans! Then we went back over to Dan's to vacuum and clean up a bit. While we were their Nick called about a BBQ at Matt's house, so since we have no food, that sounded like a good plan. We Cleaned, then headed over to Matt's for some tasty tri-tip, Guacamole, chicken, and veggies. So good! Anyways by now its 9pm, and We got to head home as we still needed to pack for Hawaii, and we leave Tuesday night to drive to LA, and our flight leaves on Wed, morning.. Last night we got most of our packing done. I was sad to find out one of the new snorkel masks I bought for Hawaii broke in the move :( But I am going to borrow one from a friend.

That's about it, since I have no TV or Internet at home, and am off for Hawaii, I will post something around Sept 16th! When I am back at work :)

Keys Please

Woo Hoo, this morning we got up a tad extra early so we could be downtown at our new place by 8:30Am. We meet with our new landlord to sign the lease and give her our deposit, yikes that was a stiff check to write. But we got it all done, and now have our very own set of keys and a place to call our own. :)

Pictures to come soon!
