Crazy Update!

Yeah so I have been pretty lazy and not updated this blog in a while. So here is a quick run down of stuff:

Gadgets! Gadgets! Gadgets!

Ok so we are heading to Kona Hawaii in a few weeks, and have you ever had those evil thoughts that "Oh! If I had (some cool gadget here) for this trip that would be some much fun!". Well so far that little devil thinking has gotten me to purchase:

  • new snorkel gear for the both of us
  • Canon Underwater Housing for S330
  • a new 20gig 4G Apple Ipod (have to listen to music in the car, plane, and on the beach) plus it has solitaire on it
  • SanDisk 256mg Cruzer Mini USB 2.0 Flash Drive just to have around to transfer files, as disk drives or now dead to me. I mean when was the last time you even used one. Now a days its just easier to email yourself your documents and then fetch them again later from your email.

Recent Events:
Saturday - We got up at a brutal 7AM to go watch Jessica first Long Distance triathlon. She did a great job finishing just under 5 hours. After hanging out in the sun for the morning I took the best 2 hour nap, and got myself ready for Saturday night bar action. There was some drinks, pool, and more drinks. Good Times.

Sunday - Got the required breakfast burrito from Cantina in IV, and then most all weekend visitor's left town. Then for some driving fun as we made our way down to Pasadena for my cousin's surprise 30th birthday. Traffic was so crappy getting out of SB. It took us like 3 hours to get down there, and about 1:40 to get back. But the party was a success, he was surprised! And very excited about our group present, as we got him some driving lessons at Willow Springs (I think).

Coming Events:
-Tonight, G Love, and Jack Johnson Concert @ Santa Barbara Bowl!
-Moving Downtown on Wednesday Thursday!!

Softball First

On Monday night the softball team Snot Rockets played our 4th game of the season. So far we are 1-2, and this was the game to bring us back up to 500. I did not get much action out in left field, but my excitement came from my three at bats.

First a long hit out to center field, usually I hit a nice short ball right in the gap for a base hit, but this one connected nicely and went farther right out to the center-fielder for a pop-fly out.

Not to encouraging, so for my second at bat I had decided to try for right field, but getting down in the count 2-1, I hit the next ball for a single over the short stops head. Sadly I would be tagged out as the next batter hit a line drive to the pitcher and I did not get back to first base in time, but it was close I think I made it! Silly blue making calls from home plate!

But finally at my third at bat I swung at a short pitch and was able to send it curving out to right field. The center-fielder tried to make a running catch for it but missed and bobbled the ball, allowing me to get a stand up tripple no problem. But as taking the word of my third-base coach telling me to take a few steps towards home, the other team made a wild throw to home plate giving me my First Home Run of the season, maybe ever. Ok well it was an in-the-park home run, but I still got 2 RBI's for that, and gave our team some breathing room to pull out the 15-9 win.

La Tour de Goleta

Day One - The Time Trails (~23 Miles):
Red line: 3.5 miles to dvo-Lances house.
Blue line: Warm-up to starting line 4 miles.
Green Line: 10 Mile Time trial loop, took an amazing 54 mins. Avg speed about 10mph.
Repeat Red & Blue to get home. Phew!

Day Two - Cross Country Loop (~12 Miles):
Yellow Line: Start off crossing More Mesa. Find a horse trail leading into Hope Ranch. Wind up and down the hills of the SB Pyrenees (ok its hope ranch) till you hit the main downhill road to Hendry's Beach. Watch for slow cars as I hit 29mph down this hill and my friend had to be in the 30+ range keeping up with a Mercedes. Enjoyed the view at the beach and then started heading back via Los Positas, and the standard bike route.

Man my ass is sore!

Metallica-who?

After a 23 mile bike ride with DVo, a group of us met downtown to see the new white castle movie. It was really funny, a good silly movie about 2 guys adventures trying to get to a burger joint. They have to Jewish friends that live across the hall that I thought were pretty funny. Anyways go see it you will like it. On the drive home Dave and I stopped off for some burgers at In & Out, very tasty.

After I dropped him off at home, I was listening to the radio, 92.9 Kjee , and they had a contest to be caller #9 and win Metallica's new CD, and be put into a drawing to be picked on Monday morning for a trip to Chicago to see them Live. Now I am not a huge fan, but I like some of their old stuff, and my girlfriend likes them as well, so I figured its almost midnight and why not I should call. The first ring was busy, and I gave it one more shot and BAM! I Get a:

"Hello?"
me: "Hi am I Caller 9?"
"Hey I ask the questions around here!"
blah.. blah radio talk

then he asks me questions about the band! AH! I don't know shit about Metallica except that the drummer name is Lars, from those silly Napster cartoons that were on the internet. So he ask me if I know who James Hetfield is. I give an "UH" and guess the lead singer, and he says you are right, but could tell I am not a crazy fan, and says a lot of people are going to be pissed at you! And I said yeah I know. Anyways he made me say AH HA or something that Hetfield says, and I got the CD, and have to wait till Monday to see if am picked! Fingers crossed it could be fun, but I should bone up on my Metallica info.
